Discovery High School teacher Alyssa Johnson expected her students to come away with something positive from helping the homeless. What she didn’t anticipate was how the positive actions of one student would affect herself.
Junior Leslie Nkereuwem was part of a group of students to show up and volunteer their time this past Sunday in the wintry weather at a park in Atlanta to feed and help the homeless. Standing 6-foot-6 and a member of the Titan basketball team, Nkereuwem did something that his peers and teacher admired — giving the shoes off his own feet away.
