Gwinnett Schools Superintendent Calvin Watts says district must move past last year’s challenges as students return

After a school year that saw issues with student discipline and safety, Gwinnett County Public Schools Superintendent Calvin Watts said he expects the district to take its “next step” when the 2023-2024 school year begins on Wednesday.

GCPS expects to have more than 183,000 students attending in 142 schools during the new school year. That’s due to an anticipated student population increase of 2,064 students from the 2022-2023 school year.
