The Dr. Tarece Johnson-Morgan Scholarship for the Arts is a one-time award of $1000 presented to a college-bound GCPS senior districtwide. One or more recipients may be named. Emphasis will be placed on participation in the arts (painting, graphic design, illustration, sculpture, literature, film, music, dance, theater, poetry, photography, and/or fashion) and volunteer work demonstrating a commitment to making a difference in the community. If preferred, instead of writing an essay, applicants may submit a 3 minute video describing how art has improved your life and what you want to do with your art in the future. Deadline: June 1

Documents to include with application:
- Applicant must be on track to graduate (no GPA/SAT/ACT requirement) include a copy of 1st-semester transcript
- Financial need
- Must major in the arts: painting, graphic design, illustration, sculpture, literature, film, music, dance, theater, poetry, photography, and/or fashion
- Submit a one-page typed essay describing how art has improved your life and what you want to do with your art in the future or a 3 minute video describing how art has improved your life and what you want to do with your art in the future.
- Demonstrate art talent via e-portfolio or works, written format, video, and/or event/presentation
- Have plans to enroll in an accredited college or university for fall 2023
*Scholarship award will be given out in-person in August of every year at the African/Black American Culture and Arts Festival Event.
*This is a non-GCPS Foundation maintained scholarship.
