From Monday to Friday of every week, Sycamore Elementary School social studies teacher DeAnne Daniels has a full slate of topics to teach her students about.
There are topics such as history, geography and economics in the lesson plans, but the Georgia Council for the Social Studies says Daniels is one of the best at teaching those subjects.
The council recently named Daniels as its 2023 Gwen Hutcheson Outstanding Social Studies Educator Award recipient for the elementary school level. The recognition is designed to highlight teachers who make noteworthy contributions to social studies instruction, according to Gwinnett County Public Schools officials.
