South Gwinnett JROTC receives highest commendation

The Gwinnett school board recently honored the South Gwinnett High School JROTC Comet Battalion, which recently earned the highest commendation level that an Army JROTC unit can receive.

The unit was named an “Honor Unit with Distinction” after inspectors from the Sixth Brigade of Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah gave it an overall score of 95.8 out of 100. The accreditation consists of a cadet continuous improvement briefing, cadet service learning project, drill ceremony and portfolio interviews by cadets and instructors.

The unit is led by Senior JROTC Instructor Lt. Col. Nathaniel Flegler Jr. and JROTC Instructor SFC LaKentra Smith.
