Backed by the state’s departments of agriculture, education and public health, the Georgia Cooperative Extension Agency and Georgia Organics, the Golden Radish Award recognizes school districts for promoting healthy eating habits through farm-to-school and local food procurement practices.
The program has grown quickly, as Georgia Organics executive director Alice Rolls said that more than 40 school districts in Georgia are actively involved in the Golden Radish Awards only four years after the program was established.
