If you ask Shane Orr, a Central Gwinnett alum and now principal of the high school, what makes his learning institution a success, he’ll tell you — it’s no secret.

“It’s already a great school, and it’s been so for a while,” Orr said. “It’s like we’re tasked with keeping something amazing alive, as opposed to developing something new.”

The Lawrenceville area high school celebrates 60 years next week, kicking off the milestone with homecoming Oct. 6. The event precedes an alumni softball game and an anniversary gala later in the week.
