Mike transitioned from a large law firm in Atlanta after 34 years to open his solo general law practice in Lawrenceville, in 2014. Since 2009, Mike has served as an adjunct professor on the faculty at the University of Georgia School of Law where he has taught secured transactions, business reorganizations in bankruptcy, and bankruptcy law.

He is Chairman of the boards of directors of the Gwinnett Health System, of Partnership Gwinnett, and of the Gwinnett Parks Foundation. He is also a current or former member of the following boards: Georgia Hospital Association, the Community Foundation for Northeast Georgia, the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce, the Leadership Gwinnett Foundation, and the Executive Board of the Northeast Georgia Council of the Boy Scouts of America, and he serves on the Gwinnett Hospital Authority. He co-chaired Engage Gwinnett, and led several Education SPLOST renewal committees, an education bond referendum committee and the 2009 County SPLOST renewal committee.
