At the 2023 Georgia High School Aviation Challenge held in late April at Peachtree-DeKalb Airport, two teams from Maxwell High School of Technology in Lawrenceville earned first- and second-place honors.

Bryan Nguyen, Kade Wells and Garrick Johnson captured the first-place award and John Gabriel and Evan Grave de Peralta came in second place. They were joined by their Flight Operations and Pathway instructor Linda Minor, director of Academies and Career, Technical and Agricultural Education Kyle Jones and Jessica Stallings, Lead SkillsUSA advisor.
