The mission of the GCPS Book Mobile program is to put books into the hands of children! We support this mission with both a school year and a summer program. The two Book Mobiles are filled with more than 4,200 books, including PreK through grade 12 and bilingual books. The books are purchased with donations, grants, or provided by sponsors.
During the school year, the Book Mobiles visit schools and community events to spread a love of reading. Children board the Book Mobile to select a new book to keep! These events encourage students to build personal libraries in their homes. During the summer, the Book Mobiles operate Monday through Saturday. The mobile library is staffed with media specialists who help students find books that best match their age and interests. With 100 stops per week, students in Gwinnett neighborhoods and communities can check out books to continue reading in June and July! During the last week of the summer, children are rewarded for reading by selecting a new book to keep.
