Renée Byrd-Lewis serves as vice president for Strategic Communications and Positioning at Georgia Gwinnett College overseeing public relations, media relations, and marketing and communications functions. Ms. Byrd-Lewis came to GGC in 2012 after serving as a charter Board member for GGC Foundation where she became inspired by the college’s innovative higher education model. Prior to GGC, Ms. Byrd-Lewis was responsible for government and community relations, and corporate foundation functions at Cisco Systems and Scientific Atlanta.
Ms. Byrd-Lewis received a Master’s in higher education administration from Georgia State University, dual undergraduate degrees in psychology and sociology from Emory University and corporate citizenship certification from Boston College. An active community leader, she currently serves on the Boards of Gwinnett Health System, Leadership Gwinnett Foundation and United Way. She and her husband reside in Buford with their two teenage boys.
