On June 5, Matt and Patrick Klug were leaving the Positive Athlete Awards ceremony. Matt Klug, who had just graduated from Brookwood, was the region’s baseball recipient and his older brother saw it as a pivotal moment.

“I told him, ‘You have a voice now. You have an opportunity to impact other people in ways you don’t even know are possible,’” Patrick Klug said.

Brookwood High School’s theater is getting a new name following unanimous approval from the Gwinnett County Public Schools Board of Education on Thursday.

Brookwood’s local school council requested the theater to be named Ken and Patty Lindahl Performing Arts Center in honor of the couple, who served as theater directors for 30 years prior to retiring in 2013.

Alexandra Scott is the Georgia Art Education Association’s 2018 Educator of the Year.
The award is given to a member who represents the highest standards of the organization in teaching and service.

Parkview High school teacher Heidi Campbell grew up around teachers. Her father was an English teacher, all her parents' friends were teachers, and she followed suit.

On Thursday night during the annual Gwinnett County Teacher of the Year banquet, Gwinnett County Public Schools CEO/Superintendent J. Alvin Wilbanks announced Campbell as the recipient of the school system's highest teacher honor.
