One of Gwinnett’s most honored two-sport stars, an NFL punter, two decorated college standouts and the county’s most accomplished golfer make up the Class of 2018 for the Gwinnett County Sports Hall of Fame, which released its list of inductees this weekend.
The ninth annual induction dinner, scheduled for April 30 at the Infinite Energy Forum’s Grand Ballroom, also will feature a prominent keynote speaker in longtime Atlanta Braves manager Bobby Cox, a 2014 Baseball Hall of Fame selection. Its purpose, in addition to honoring Gwinnett’s best in sports, is to raise funds for the Gwinnett County Public Schools Foundation.

A Lilburn Elementary School team qualified for the First Lego League 2018 World Festival in Houston.
The Leg-o-matics punched their ticket to the international competition by winning the First Lego League qualifier at Georgia Gwinnett College on Feb. 3.

As part of National School Counseling Week, Gwinnett County Public Schools named the district’s counselors of the year in a press release on Friday.
Ferguson Elementary School counselor Sherry Ferguson was named Elementary School Counselor of the Year. Ferguson is described by her peers as someone that readily recognizes the need to support academic, social, and emotional growth by assisting students and staff in various ways.
